Milton Glaser

I love this design and how the hair contains all the color.  The left side being white seems to balance out the dark background on the right side.  The hair is the focal point and adds depth to the piece while everything else looks flat.

I saw this image online one day and thought it was neat.  I like how the swirling circle on the bottom right corner draws your eye.  The circle adds rhythm to the design.  The top half is rather simple and is made up of geometric shapes. 

Fish!

I found this image online and thought it fit in with our homework on focus and focal point a couple weeks back.  I like how the fish in the center is in color and grabs your attention.  I also think that the text below the colored fish fits the design very well. 

something I found...

I was online one day and found this image.  At first I thought the image was random circles then after looking closer, i saw what looks to be a dog and a mans head.  I like the fact that you can read the design in different ways and see different images. I also like how the right half is complex and overlapping while the left half is simple. 

Drips of Color

I found this design on the Internet and loved it. I like how the colors look to be dripping yet they don't run together.  The drips at the bottom had variation and depth to the design as well. 

Quick Sketch

This is a sketch of a Sierra Mist soda can that I drew one day when I was really bored.  The lines around the text are very random and harsh, but act like a border to the image. 

Big Red

I really like this ad because of how the product is the focus.  The only white used in the whole ad is for the text "big red". Everything in the background is dark, while the arm and the hand are in bright colors.  The figure nails blend into the gum because they are the same colors.  You can tell that Big Red is hot because of the red and yellow colors used to represent fire. 

Line

Line is shown in Harry Potters glasses. The round line that is used for his glasses frames his eyes, making his eyes a focal point for viewers.  

Typography is shown in the words "a date to remember."  The type selected for these words grabs your attention.  The type used expresses a eerie, dangerous, afraid or scared feeling. These feelings are created by the sharp, harsh lines used for the letters.

I think this advertisement does a good job showing a balanced composition.  The ad has a good sense of visual weight with the woman being in the center of the work.  Since a figure is in the center it makes the work seem equal.  

Creating Emphasis Assignment

I think that this advertisement does a good job in creating emphasis. This advertisement shows emphasis by focusing on the shoe, making the shoe a focal point.  As well as showing a contrast from the background to the shoe. The shoe is large making it impossible to miss. I think that this is a very successful ad.  It is simple and grabs people's attention. 

i Stuff..

For this I was thinking about the ipod and the  many products that Apple has introduced in the past years.  That got me wondering what other products that they could someday come out with.  With the great advertising that Apple already has there is no question that new products would be a hit.  Apple could even market there products to focus on what people describe themselves as.  This way people could make their mark and feel good about themselves.

I loved this advertisement because it shows a creative way to show a product.  I like the fact that the images are sketch- like and inform the viewer what the product is and how it works.  When I first saw this advertisement in a magazine I liked the fact that it was simple and to the point.  The text is calm and the images grab the viewer  attention and do the talking.
